Every platform has its own requirements: Twitter API is paid, Reddit blocks server IPs, Bilibili blocks generic download tools, Xiaohongshu requires login, and more. Setting up each platform individually takes hours of installing tools and tweaking configurations.

What Is Agent Reach?

Agent Reach is an open source tool (MIT license) that gives AI agents the ability to read and search the entire internet. The core idea: instead of the user setting up each platform individually, Agent Reach selects, installs, and health-checks the best available tools for each platform, then provides a unified interface for the agent to use.

The project describes itself as “scaffolding, not a framework.” This means it does not re-wrap content, but instead selects the best existing tools (like yt-dlp for YouTube, gh for GitHub, Jina Reader for web pages) and puts them in one place the agent can access.

How It Works

Installation is done with one simple command. Copy this line and send it to your AI agent:

After that, the agent automatically:

1. Installs the agent-reach command-line tool via pip.
2. Installs system dependencies like Node.js, gh CLI, and mcporter.
3. Configures a web search engine through MCP (Exa) for free, without needing an API key.
4. Detects the environment (local machine or server) and provides appropriate recommendations.
5. Registers a SKILL.md file in the agent’s skills folder, so the agent automatically knows how to use these tools when needed.

After installation, you can run agent-reach doctor to check the status of each channel and see if it is working or not .

Privacy and Security

Cookie files remain local on your device and are never uploaded to any external server. The code is fully open source and can be audited .

Automatic Switching Between Tools

Each platform has a primary and a fallback path. If the primary path fails, Agent Reach automatically switches to the alternative without any user intervention. Example: when Bilibili blocked yt-dlp in June 2026, the team switched to bili-cli automatically, and users noticed nothing .

Works with Claude Code, OpenClaw, Cursor, Windsurf, and any agent that can run command-line commands.
